PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 6 -- The investigation into the murder of army soldier Vivek Singh, who was attacked on November 29 and succumbed to his injuries on December 1, has taken a significant turn. So far, five individuals, including a police sub-inspector and a military personnel, have been jailed in connection with the case. During the ongoing investigation, the names of two additional suspects, Gagan Tiwari and Kali Yadav, have emerged. Police teams are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend the new suspects, officials confirmed. Earlier, the DCP (Trans-Yamuna) had suspended Rajesh Singh, the additional station house officer of Karachhana police station, for negligence related to the case. According to reports, 28-year-old Vivek Singh, an army personnel from Dharwara, had come home on leave from his posting in Delhi to attend his cousin sister's wedding. Around 2 am on November 29, after dropping off his friends Vinay Jain of Kohdar Bazaar and Karan Singh, also from his village, in a car, Vivek allegedly got into a dispute near Dharwara turn with some youths traveling in an SUV who were returning from a wedding procession. The confrontation escalated into a violent attack, leaving him critically injured. Vivek Singh died on December 1 at Command Hospital, Lucknow. On the night of December 1, Karachhana police arrested sub inspector Rajkamal Pandey, advocate Dinesh Kumar Yadav, army personnel Rajeev Kumar Thakur, Raju Agrahari and Bhailal Yadav, all residents of Chakrana Tiwari in Naini. They were formally charged and sent to jail. Following interrogation, review of CCTV footage, and further investigation, police said the names of Gagan Tiwari and Kali Yadav from Dhanua village have now been added to the murder case. According to police, Gagan Tiwari, who is involved in land plotting work, has multiple criminal cases registered against him and has previously been imprisoned.
