Haridwar, Feb. 9 -- Two men were arrested on Saturday in Roorkee for allegedly gang raping an acquaintance, police said on Sunday. The accused were identified as Meherban and Abdur Rehman, said police, adding that the incident occurred near Jaurasi village in the district. According to the complaint filed by the survivor, the accused offered a cold drink allegedly laced with sedatives of unidentified nature while she was on her way home. After she became unconscious, they allegedly took her to an unidentified location and raped her, it added. The accused also allegedly recorded a video clip of the assault and threatened to circulate it online if she disclosed the incident to the police. "On the basis of the complaint, a case of gang rape was registered under Section 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) at Roorkee police station on Saturday evening," said sub-inspector Anshu Chaudhary of Roorkee police station. "Further legal proceedings are underway," Chaudhary added.
