GORAKHPUR, May 4 -- Two labourers lost their lives after sustaining critical injuries during a machine shifting and testing operation at a flour mill located in Sahjanwa, Gorakhpur. The incident occurred on Friday evening, and both victims succumbed to their injuries in the early hours of Saturday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The deceased have been identified as Akhilesh, 32, a machine operator from Barabanki, and Bhanu Prakash Pandey, a fourth-grade worker and resident of Bansgaon. SP, north, Jitendra Kumar, confirmed the fatalities, stating that the bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination and the families of the deceased have been informed. A police inquiry has been launched to determine the cause of the accident and to investigate any potential violations of safety norms. According to eyewitness accounts, the accident took place during the shifting and operational testing of a heavy machine. Akhilesh reportedly received a mechanical jolt, causing him to fall from the top of the machine. Simultaneously, Bhanu Prakash Pandey was struck by a heavy component that suddenly detached and fell during the process. A loud noise from the incident alerted nearby workers and locals, who rushed to the site and helped transport the injured to the nearby community health centre. They were later referred to a private hospital, where both were declared dead.
