Two killed as car rams divider on temple route
PRAYAGRAJ, July 11 -- A pilgrimage to the Maihar Devi temple ended in tragedy when a car carrying a family crashed into a road divider at the Gauhaniya bypass near Ghoorpur in the trans-Yamuna area of Prayagraj around midnight on Wednesday. Two members of the family lost their lives, and four others sustained injuries.
According to police, the family had left Prayagraj late Wednesday evening, heading to the temple. As the car approached the bypass, the driver is believed to have briefly fallen asleep. The vehicle grazed past a truck parked along the roadside before crashing into a road divider with great force. The collision was so severe that one side of the car was completely destroyed. Rishi Kesarwani,16, a resident of Hanumanganj and the son of Rajesh Kesarwani, died on the spot. Another passenger, Soni,35, wife of Sandeep Kesarwani, succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
The impact left all passengers trapped inside the mangled car. Locals and passersby rushed to the scene, called emergency services, and worked alongside police to rescue the injured. They were first taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Jasra and later referred to a hospital in the city for further medical care.
The other injured include Rajesh Kesarwani, his wife Geeta Kesarwani, and Sandeep Kesarwani, all of whom sustained serious injuries in the crash. The police, led by Ghoorpur SHO Dinesh Singh, are continuing their investigation into the incident....
