Prayagraj, Dec. 14 -- Police arrested two people on Saturday for allegedly shooting a 35-year-old man in the Dhanipur area under Aspur Devsara police station in Pratapgarh district. The accused were sent to jail, while efforts are on to arrest the remaining suspects. The arrested men were identified as Piyush Singh of Haiderpur, Tezi Bazaar, Jaunpur, and Suraj Gautam of Chauraha, Tezi Bazaar. Police said they were arrested from Telyani Canal Bridge and Daudpur T-junction. Two mobile phones and the motorcycle used in the crime were also recovered. Station house officer Vijendra Singh said the accused were traced using CCTV footage and call detail records. The incident took place on December 11 afternoon, when three youths on a motorcycle allegedly lured Vijay Upadhyay, also known as Sonu, out of his house on the pretext of delivering an invitation card. He was shot three times and seriously injured. Vijay's brother, Sanjay Upadhyay, lodged a case naming six persons and registering it against eight people for attempted murder. Police said that as his condition did not improve, Vijay was shifted from Swaroop Rani Hospital in Prayagraj to a private nursing home, where he is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. woman was killed after a speeding SUV hit a motorcycle near Moazzampur village under Karari police station in Kaushambi district on Saturday morning. Her husband, who was riding the motorcycle, narrowly escaped injury, police said. The deceased was identified as Meena Devi, 32, a homemaker from Echipur village under Sarai Akil police station. She had recently suffered a leg injury and was travelling with her husband, Ramraj Pal, to Kalyanpur in Kohraraj for treatment. According to police, the SUV rammed into the motorcycle from behind near Moazzampur village. The impact threw Meena Devi onto the road, where she was run over by the vehicle, killing her on the spot. Her husband survived without injuries. Police reached the site soon after the incident, registered a case and sent the body for postmortem examination. Karari police station inspector Siyakant Chaurasiya said efforts are underway to trace the SUV and its driver, and legal action will be taken based on the complaint....
