Agra, Feb. 18 -- Two men were arrested for the abduction and murder of a postmaster in Mathura, on Monday. While being taken into custody, one of the accused fired at the police team but was injured in the leg in retaliatory firing and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. Circle officer for Goverdham Anil Kumar Singh said that postmaster Ramveer at a post office in Mathura was abducted and later killed over enmity. A case was registered under section 140(1)/103/238 BNS at Shergarh police station of Mathura district. Police teams were constituted and on Monday two of the accused identified as Bharat alias Bhartu (25) and Ranjeet (28), both residents of a village on the border of UP and Haryana in Palwal district of Haryana, were arrested. "Both were arrested near a dhaba and they revealed that the weapon, the country made pistol, was hidden at a location ahead of village Paigam near Kosi road in Mathura district. Both the accused were taken for recovery of weapon and on reaching the location, one of the accused Bharat fired at the police team but was injured in retaliatory firing," stated CO Goverdhan.
