Two get life term for killing teen over sugarcane theft
Agra, July 19 -- Two brothers were sentenced to life imprisonment for killing a 17-year-old boy who had entered their sugarcane field in May 2020 in a village in Mathura district.
The verdict was delivered on Thursday by additional sessions judge Neelam Dhaka (Court No. 6) in Mathura.
The accused, Rajveer Singh and Kesaria, were found guilty under IPC sections 302/34 (murder with common intention) and sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.20,000. Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional six months of imprisonment.
They were also convicted under section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and awarded seven years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs.2,000.
Both sentences will run concurrently, and the court directed that the time already spent in custody be adjusted against the final sentence.
The case (Crime No. 115/2020) was registered at Farah police station in Mathura based on a complaint by Sunil Kumar, the victim's brother.
He alleged that his brother Sachin alias Tilaka was strangled and his head crushed with bricks before the accused dragged and hid the body in nearby bushes.
