Agra, June 19 -- Known for its dense forest cover in the past, Vrindavan is set for the revival of the same with two forest areas proposed to come up around the Banke Bihari temple corridor. The initiative is being taken by Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad in collaboration with the forest department and Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA). Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP) with chief minister as its chairman, is a body entrusted with the task of development of Mathura and Vrindavan, and those heading it believe that forest areas have always been complementing the temples in the twin religious cities. 'With Banke Bihari temple corridor coming up, these proposed forest areas will add to the natural beauty of Vrindavan. One of the two forest areas will be near Prem Mandir in Vrindavan and will come up in Sunrakh area alongside Chatikara road which leads to the Banke Bihari temple," stated chief executive officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP) Shyam Bahadur Singh. The area outlined is having 'babool' trees at present and plans are afoot to develop the forest area in 80 acres of land out of 125 acres near Prem Mandir temple. It will flourish with traditional trees like peepal, bargad, pakhad, neem and kadamb, said the CEO at UPBTVP. The second forest will come up in the Kumbh area of Vrindavan which is spread in 56 hectares of land alongside the bank of Yamuna. Traditional trees will be planted in the landscape between Yamuna river bank and parikrama marg. MVDA is planning to bring up temporary shade where devotees can render devotional songs, said the CEO....
