Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Thursday directed immediate action, terming the incident "grossly negligent". The college principal has since issued suspension orders for assistant professor Dr Sudhanshu Sharma, senior resident Dr Vishal Tyagi, and nurses Usha Devi, Amrapali Lal, and Snehprabha. According to officials, the patient, Brijesh Chaudhary had been admitted to ward 7 of the college's surgical unit on July 28 with abdominal pain. Doctors had diagnosed intestinal inflammation but recommended discharge the following morning. However, the next day, hospital staff reportedly wheeled Chaudhary into the operation theatre. Terming the episode "unacceptable", Pathak said, "The safety and dignity of patients must be the foremost priority in any medical institution."
