LUCKNOW, May 5 -- Two city residents - both 34-year-old men - lost their lives in separate incidents of wall collapse on Sunday and Monday, as freakish weather conditions prevailed in the state capital. A 34-year-old man died on Sunday morning after a dilapidated brick wall collapsed on him in Lucknow's Madiaon area. The incident took place in the Bharat Nagar locality, where an old wall near a house called 'Nauj Palace' suddenly collapsed, trapping the man beneath the debris, police said on Monday. Locals helped pull Ankit Sharma out from under the debris and rushed him to the trauma centre at King George's Medical University (KGMU), where doctors were unable to save him. In Monday's incident, a man died and two others were injured after a wall adjacent to a car workshop collapsed during a spell of strong winds and rain in the Vibhuti Khand area on Monday morning, police said. According to the police, the incident occurred between 8:30 am and 9:00 am when a sudden storm swept through the city. The wall, located next to the car workshop, reportedly gave way and fell on three men who were nearby. All three injured were rushed to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment.
