Two-day NBRI flower show features 671 exhibits
LUCKNOW, Dec. 21 -- The two-day Chrysanthemum and Coleus flower show began at the botanic garden of CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI) on Saturday. Despite cold winter winds, many residents visited the Central Lawn to enjoy the colourful display. The show was inaugurated by M Devraj, principal secretary, department of appointment and personnel, along with CSIR-NBRI director Ajit Shasnay.
The exhibition will remain open on Sunday from 10 am to 5.30 pm. This year, 95 exhibitors are taking part, showcasing a total of 671 exhibits. Visitors can see a wide variety of chrysanthemums in different colours, shapes and types. According to CSIR-NBRI spokesperson Rajat Raj Rastogi, 75 unique chrysanthemum germplasms are also on display. Some visitors bought plants and products developed by CSIR institutions. Beneficiaries of CSIR-NBRI have set up stalls to display their products.
The 'King of the Show' and 'Prince of the Show' awards were won by Saubhagya Srivastava of Celebrity Garden, Ansal. The 'Queen of the Show' title went to Alfred Gomes of La Martiniere College, Lucknow. Another 'Prince of the Show' award was won by Mishika from Devlok Colony, Nilmatha. Isha Gupta, 22, who visited the show with her sister Ira and niece Aarvi, said they came after seeing posts on Instagram. She said the visit brought back memories of childhood visits to the NBRI flower show.HTC...
