Lucknow, Oct. 29 -- A two-day programme to celebrate the life of 'ghazal queen' Begum Akhtar began at Kalamandapam Auditorium of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya here on Tuesday. This October 7 was Akhtar's 111th birth anniversary. Her death anniversary falls on October 31. On the first day, Vidushi Sangeeta Nerurkar (Pune) started her performance with Akhtar's 'Yeh dekhna hai sukoon ab kahan se milta hai'. She also narrated the life and musical journey of the maestro throughout the performance. She was accompanied by Pandit Dharamnath Mishra on harmonium, Mohit Dubey on tabla and Vinayak Sahay on sarangi. BSV Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mandvi Singh, said that it was a coincidence that Begum Akhtar was also associated with Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya for some time....
