BAHRAICH, Sept. 22 -- Bahraich police arrested two men accused of cow slaughter following an encounter near Jumai Purwa canal under Kotwali Nanpara police station limits early Sunday, officials said. Additional superintendent of police (rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari said a case had been registered against the duo on September 20 under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and Sections 3/5(a)/8 of the Cow Slaughter Prevention Act. Acting on a tip-off about their escape plan, the Nanpara SHO and his team intercepted the suspects, who were riding a motorcycle without registration number.
