PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 5 -- Two cousins were killed in a road accident near Chandwari Bridge under the Sandipan Ghat police station area in Kaushambi early Thursday, police said. The accident occurred when a soil-laden tractor trolley overturned after being hit by a speeding dumper truck, killing both the driver and his minor relative on the spot. According to police, the incident took place at dawn as Ajay Kumar, 20, a resident of Mujahidpur village on Palhana Road, was returning from Sagra village after loading soil onto his tractor. His 14-year-old cousin, Lavkush, son of Devnarayan Saroj, was accompanying him. As the tractor approached the Chandwari culvert, a high-speed dumper coming from the opposite direction rammed into it. The impact forced the tractor and its trolley off the road and into a ditch nearly 10 feet deep, trapping both Ajay and Lavkush underneath the overturned vehicle. The dumper driver fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the crash. Morning walkers noticed the overturned tractor and informed police. With the help of local residents, officers managed to pull out the victims after a prolonged effort, but both had succumbed to their injuries. "The bodies have been sent for postmortem. Efforts are underway to trace the dumper and identify the driver," said station house officer Shashikant Mishra, adding that CCTV footage from the route is being examined as part of the investigation....
