two college students held in Barmer in cyber fraud case: cops
Jaipur, July 2 -- Two people from Barmer district have been arrested for their alleged involvement in duping a Delhi resident of Rs.14 lakh through a fake cybercrime extortion call, the Cyber Police of North District, Delhi, said on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, North District, Delhi, Raja Banthia said the case came to light after a complaint was filed by 57-year-old Kailash Kumar Meena, a resident of Kishan Ganj, Delhi, stating that he was manipulated into transferring Rs.14 lakh to an account provided by a caller claiming to be an officer from Cyber Crime, Bombay.
"On June 15, a raid was conducted in the area of Barmer, Rajasthan and one of the accused persons Banshi Lal was apprehended. When questioned, he provided information about his co-accused Prem Kumar who was residing in the same village. At his instance, Kumar was also apprehended from his house in Barmer," Banthia said....
