Two brothers shot dead in Jaunpur, probe on
VARANASI, Sept. 15 -- Two brothers were shot dead by bike-borne assailants in Ramnagar locality under Mungra Badshahpur police station area of Jaunpur district on Saturday evening. The incident occurred when both the victims were on their way to village Majhgawan Chandauki from Mungra Badshahpur, police said.
According to police, the deceased have been identified as Shahjahan (70) and his younger brother Jahangir (65), residents of Majhgawan Chandauki village. They were traders and they went to Mungra Badshahpur by bike for some work. They were on way to their home late evening when the assailants opened fire at them, said a police officer.
Hearing gunshots, locals ran to the spot where Shahjahan was lying dead and Jahangir's condition was critical.
The locals immediately informed police who rushed Jehangir to a hospital with the help of the locals where the doctors referred him to Prayagraj in view of his critical condition. Jahangir succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Additional superintendent of police (rural area), Aatish Kumar Singh, Circle Officer, Machhli Shahar, Pratima Verma, station house officer Mungra Badshahpur KK Singh reached the spot. Both the bodies have been sent for the post mortem.
The officer said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of BNS against unidentified assailants in this connection.
