LUCKNOW, July 14 -- Mohanlalganj police, on Sunday, arrested two brothers for allegedly attacking a man with sticks and an axe, leading to his death during treatment. The accused, Gaya Prasad (35) and Ganesh Prasad (32), both residents of Jaitikheda village, were nabbed near the Jaitikheda canal culvert. Police also recovered the weapons used in the attack, stated the press release by the police department on Sunday. As per the police officials, the accused and the deceased were known to each other and they had a dispute over an issue while they were drunk which led to physical assault. The assault took place around midnight on July 11 when Ramu (42), a resident of Jaitikheda, and his brother Dinesh Kumar were allegedly beaten by the accused with sticks and an axe. According to the FIR lodged by Ramu's wife Renu, the accused also hurled abuses and issued death threats without any provocation. Both Ramu and Dinesh sustained severe head injuries in the attack. Ramu later succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while Dinesh is recovering, the press release said. Following the complaint, police registered an FIR under sections 191(2), 109, 352, and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Mohanlalganj police station. Acting swiftly, a police team was formed and the two accused were arrested within 48 hours. On being questioned, the accused led the police to the recovery of an axe and a wooden stick used in the crime. The operation was carried out under the ongoing anti-crime campaign launched by the Lucknow Police Commissionerate. The arrests were made under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), with guidance from the Additional DCP and ACP of Mohanlalganj, and led by inspector-in-charge Ranbir Singh. Police said further legal action is underway and sections of the FIR may be revised following the victim's death. Both accused have been sent to judicial custody, the press release said....
