Two bikers killed after truck collision in Azamgarh
LUCKNOW, Jan. 6 -- Two friends riding a motorcycle died after colliding with a truck in Azamgarh district on Sunday night, police said. The accident occurred around 9 pm in the market area under the Gambhirpur police station limits. The motorcycle rammed into the side of a truck, and the impact caused fatal injuries to both riders, who died on the spot, according to police.
The deceased were identified as Santosh Yadav, 35, of Singhda village and Sandeep Yadav, 33, of Bhagwanpur village. Santosh, a former village head, is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Both vehicles were moving at high speed during the collision. Body parts were found scattered nearly 25 metres from the crash site, causing panic among shopkeepers and passersby in the busy market. Eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred on a slightly curved stretch where vehicles frequently exceed the speed limit.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced and is being examined. Gambhirpur police and circle officer (Sadar) Aastha Jaiswal reached the scene.
The truck driver and helper were taken into custody for questioning....
