Two Bareilly traders die, two hurt as car crashes into truck
Meerut, Nov. 1 -- Two textile traders from Bareilly lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Gajraula town, in Amroha district, early on Friday morning. The mishap took place when their car collided with a truck carrying sugar mill equipment at an illegal cut on the national highway. Two others, including the driver of the car, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
According to the police, the victims have been identified as Salman and Zahid, both residents of Tiliyapur village under CB Ganj police station limits in Bareilly. They were returning from Haryana after purchasing fabric when the accident took place. The car was being driven by Anees, who, along with another passenger, Asif Khan, was injured in the collision.
Police investigations revealed that the truck, driven by a resident of Ropar in Punjab, was transporting boiler equipment for a sugar mill to the Chandausi area. Around 5 am, when the vehicle reached about three kilometers from Gajraula town towards Moradabad, it attempted to cross the highway through an illegal cut in front of a petrol pump. At the same moment, the car coming in high speed from Delhi rammed into the rear of the truck.
The impact of the collision was so intense that the car's front portion was completely crushed, instantly killing the two traders seated inside. Nearby petrol pump staff rushed to inform the police and emergency services. An ambulance soon arrived and transported the victims to the Community Health Center (CHC), where doctors declared Salman, 28 and Zahid, 34, dead. The injured were later referred to a private hospital in the Didouli police station area for advanced treatment.
Police have taken both the truck and the car into custody, and the truck driver has been detained for questioning. Officers also recorded statements from petrol pump employees who witnessed the incident.
CHC in-charge Dr Yogendra Singh confirmed that the two deceased were residents of Bareilly and that their bodies had been brought to the centre for a post-mortem examination....
