LUCKNOW, Dec. 23 -- : A 13-year-old class 9 student from Mohanlalganj area in Lucknow was allegedly gang-raped after being befriended on a social media app by an auto-rickshaw driver who promised marriage and abducted her. The accused first took her to a hotel where he assaulted and allegdely raped her. Later he called his two other friends at the same hotel and they allegdely gangraped the minor. Mohanlalganj SHO Brajesh Tripathi confirmed that all three accused are auto-rickshaw drivers. "Police arrested Rohit, 24, and Manish Rastogi, 30, on December 21 and sent them to jail. One Ritik remains absconding, with teams searching for him," he added. According to police, the main accused, Rohit alias Sohit, a married man residing in Faizullaganj's Krishna Lok Colony and originally from Hazratganj, initiated contact with the minor on the social media app about two weeks before the incident and lured her with false promises of marriage. The family alleged that on November 14, the girl left for school but did not return home prompting police to register a missing complaint under 137 (2) (kidnapping) of BNS. The girl's father reported her missing on November 15, prompting police to launch a search. "Two teams were formed and after investigating her social media account, her links with Rohit were found. Using digital traces from the platform, police rescued the girl on December 16 over a month after her disappearance," said the SHO. The family alleged that Rohit allegedly called her to Telibagh on some pretext, took her to a hotel in Chinhat area, and raped her. "He kept her confined in the hotel for 2-3 days, repeatedly assaulting her. Later, he called his two friends Manish Rastogi, resident of Chinhat, originally from Barabanki and Ritik who also allegedly raped the victim," the family told police in their complaint. During questioning, the victim revealed the gang-rape, leading police to add charges under relevant sections. On the basis of the evidence, section 70 (2) (gang rape) of the BNS and relevant sections of the POCSO Act was added "Probe is also underway as to how the minor was allowed to stay in the hotel, and action will be taken against the hotel management," the SHO added....
