Haridwar, May 2 -- Two people were arrested with 1,000 kg of prohibited meat, suspected to be of bovines, in Sikrauda village of Bhagwanpur block, in Haridwar district, a senior police officer confirmed on Wednesday. According to Sub-Inspector Punit Doshi of Bhagwanpur Police Station, the arrests followed a tip-off from an informer about suspected cow slaughter being carried out in a mango orchard in Sikrauda. "Acting on the input, a police team raided the location on Wednesday and found two individuals engaged in the illegal slaughter of a prohibited animal. Approximately 1,000 kg of prohibited meat, along with tools used for animal slaughter, were recovered from the site," said Sub-Inspector Doshi. "Both accused have been arrested, and further interrogation and legal proceedings are underway", he said The accused, identified as Aleem (23) and Sakib (25), both residents of Sikrauda village, have confessed to their involvement....
