Agra, Oct. 28 -- Two students were taken into police custody and a case was registered at Civil Lines police station, Aligarh, after a Class XI student of AMU City School lodged a complaint against four to five boys who allegedly attacked him on Sunday evening. Police and the AMU administration have denied claims that the student was beaten for not reciting the 'kalma'. "Information was received at Civil Lines police station on Sunday evening about an attack on a student by fellow students from the same school. Police reached the spot, and the victim was taken for medical examination and discharged after necessary treatment," said circle officer (III) Sarvam Singh. "On the complaint filed by the injured student, a case was registered and the matter investigated. It was found that the attack stemmed from a dispute between two student groups," he added. Singh said two named students had been taken into custody, while efforts were on to nab others involved. "There is no other reason behind the attack, but investigation is continuing," he said. htc...
