Two accused injured in police encounter, hospitalised
AGRA, May 4 -- Two men allegedly involved in the shooting of a youth in the Sikandra area of Agra on April 26 were injured in a police encounter on Friday night. The duo, identified as Aman and Abhishek alias Roni, was hospitalised following the encounter and is currently undergoing treatment under police custody.
According to deputy commissioner of police (Agra City) Sonam Kumar, a case under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Sikandra police station after the shooting incident.
"On Friday night, during routine checking, two men riding a motorcycle were signalled to stop. Instead, they opened fire at the police team. In retaliation, police fired back, injuring both accused," the DCP said.
Following the incident, a fresh case under the Arms Act and for attacking a police team was registered against the accused, police said. The initial complaint in the case was lodged by the brother of the injured youth, Milan. As per the first information report (FIR), Milan and his friend had a prior altercation with Aman from the Chauhatna area and other unidentified individuals on April 24. Aman had allegedly issued threats before leaving the scene.
Two days later, on April 26, Aman and an accomplice reportedly tracked Milan to a juice shop near Kargil crossing in Agra, where he was shot in the head. The attackers fled the scene after the shooting. Milan was rushed to the hospital, where he continues to receive treatment....
