LUCKNOW/prayagraj, Feb. 25 -- The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested three active drug traffickers in separate operations in Barabanki and Prayagraj, seizing a total of 785.45 grams of heroin valued at over Rs.1.58 crore in the international market, senior ANTF officials said while sharing two separate press notes in this regard on Tuesday. In the first operation, conducted by the ANTF Lucknow Unit, police arrested two accused near Chandwara Mod, about 100 metres from the Lucknow-Ayodhya road under Safdarganj police station limits in Barabanki district. The arrested accused were identified as Devi Prasad, a resident of Yakutganj, and Anil Kumar, a resident of Tadpurwa-both under Jaidepur police station in Barabanki. Police recovered 470 grams of illegal heroin worth approximately Rs.94 lakh from their possession. Besides the contraband, the team seized one motorcycle, an Android mobile phone, a keypad mobile phone and Rs.1,620. An FIR has been registered at Safdarganj police station under Sections 8/21/29/60 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In a separate operation, the ANTF unit in Prayagraj arrested Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Sulemsarai under the Dhoomanganj police station limits. He was apprehended on Monday near Supply Depot ahead of Kahar Galla under the Cantt police station limits of the Prayagraj Police Commissionerate. Police recovered 315.45 grams of heroin valued at approximately Rs.64 lakh, 20 zipper pouches used for packaging smaller quantities.
