Tubewell operator dies in bull attack
PRAYAGRAJ, June 4 -- A 58-year-old tubewell operator lost his life after being attacked by a stray bull near his residence in Neevi village, located under Tharwai police station in the trans-Ganga region of the district. The incident occurred around midnight on Monday.
According to police reports, the victim, Arun Pratap Singh alias Matru, son of Suryabhan Singh and a resident of Neevi, was asleep outside his house when he awoke around midnight to relieve himself. At that moment, a stray bull roaming the area charged at him, goring him severely in the abdomen.
His cries alerted family members and neighbours, who rushed to his aid. They managed to drive the animal away and transported Singh to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, said Arvind Kumar Gautam, station house officer of Tharwai police station. Singh had been working as a contractual tubewell operator under the village council of Majra Narayanpur.
On Tuesday, local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Dinesh Pandey, Subhash Shukla, and Rajmani Shukla, brought the matter to the attention of the area Lekhpal, as well as the regional MLA and MP. They alleged that villagers had previously raised concerns about the aggressive behaviour of the stray bull, which had reportedly attacked others in the past, but no effective action had been taken. The incident has once again highlighted the growing menace of stray cattle in rural areas and the urgent need for effective intervention by local authorities....
