LUCKNOW, April 30 -- Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav's childhood coach Kapil Pandey feels that the Delhi Capitals team management, skipper Axar Patel and coach Hemang Badani should be more supportive of their spinners, who can turn the tide in the team's favour in all conditions, especially on Indian pitches. For DC, Kuldeep has, so far, taken 12 wickets at an average of 6.55 in nine matches (before the match against KKR on Tuesday), whereas leg spinner Vipraj Nigam, who's proved that he is good with the willow as well, has seven wickets to his name at an average of 9.34. "Both Kuldeep and Vipraj have the guts to handle all kinds of opposition. Had the team used them properly, DC could have won against RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) in their last game," said Pandey, who taught Kuldeep the finer points of the game during his Kanpur days. "A captain's support to his bowlers, especially spinners, is very important. When Shane Warne was hammered by Vinod Kambli for 20-22 runs in an over in his first tour to India, his captain Steve Waugh showed him enough support. It gave enough confidence to the bowler and thereafter he became almost unplayable for the Indians," he said. "Kuldeep is amazing in the IPL this time and his control over his deliveries has been making batters' lives difficult even when it's a batsmen-dominated event. He stops runs. His bowing is very mature," said Pandey. "The best thing about his bowling is his line and length. I can see the work he has done on it, and his understanding of the situation is amazing," said Pandey, adding, "I always tell him that in T20 cricket, there is no need to rush. Maintain the line length, force batters to make mistakes." He also praised Nigam for his attacking style of bowling. "Nigam also bowled well, but he was given just one over in the match against RCB. He did well against Virat Kohli in the previous match, and he should have been given the chance to bowl to Kohli again," said Pandey. "In T20 cricket, a bowler should be fearless and not defensive. Kuldeep should have bowled round-the-wicket to Krunal Pandya..." "Just see [Vaibhav] Suryavanshi playing last evening. His batting was the perfect example of playing fearless cricket." Suryavanshi, 14, on Monday etched his name in the IPL history when he scored a ton out of just 38 balls. Vipraj's coach Sarwar Nawab too admired the progress of his trainee in the IPL. "Vipraj has been bowling well, and I am impressed with his fearless approach in bowling and batting," said Nawab, who trains Vipraj at the 10th battalion, PAC Ground in Barabanki. Besides Kuldeep and Vipraj for DC, other bowlers, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yasah Dayal and even Zeeshan Ansari have impressed their franchise with their performances. Meerut's Kumar leads the table with 12 wickets for the table toppers Royal Challenger Bangalore along with Prayagraj's Yash Dayal, who has so far taken nine wickets also for the RCB. Lucknow's Ansari has five wickets in seven matches so far and this includes his best 3/42. "The successful journey of Uttar Pradesh bowlers in this IPL has once again proved that the state cricket has got enough talents. In the past, too, Suresh Raina and others have done well in the 'fatafat' format of the game," former India cricketer and UP Ranji Trophy coach Gyanendra Pandey said. "Talents like Vipraj and Zeeshan got a chance to showcase their talents in the UPT20 League and from there they made it to the IPL teams. It's a real growth for the UP cricket," he added....
