LUCKNOW, Oct. 3 -- Four friends lost their lives and two others were seriously injured after a speeding truck hit their motorcycles on the Utraula-Balrampur road. The collision was so severe that the bikes were thrown 20 feet away into a field, said police. The accident took place near Kandbhari village on Wednesday night. Six youths from Muradih village under Maharajganj Tarai police station were on their way to Utraula to witness Durga Puja on two motorcycles, when a speeding truck rammed into them, leaving all of them critically injured, said DIG (Devipatan range) Amit Pathak on Thursday. They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared four of them dead. "Among the deceased are two real brothers and a cousin brother, along with a neighbour, all aged between 17 and 23 years. They are identified as Santosh Maurya and Sitaram Maurya, sons of Mithulal while Ankit Maurya, son of Radheshyam Maurya, is their cousin and Sanjay Kumar Verma, son of Radheshyam Verma, their neighbour. The two injured are Dinesh Maurya and Arvind Verma, also their neighbours," the offcial said, adding, "One of the injured was referred to Bahraich, while the other was referred to the KGMU's Trauma Centre in Lucknow." The incident occurred around 12am when said the six friends from Mudadih village in Maharajganj Tarai set out on two bikes to witness Durga Puja. Three friends were riding on one bike.
