LUCKNOW, Dec. 24 -- Police on Tuesday recovered a truck, which was reported stolen a day ago, when it was stranded in the middle of a road after running out of fuel, they said. Besides the truck, owned by a transport company, spare parts from other vehicles stolen from outside the firm's office in the Mohanlalganj area here were also recovered. The worth of total recoveries was put at Rs 15 lakh. Additional DCP (South) Vasanth Rallapalli said Sanjay Singh Yadav, the firm's owner, stated that the DCM truck (UP 32 YN 8964), and batteries and spare tyres from other vehicles, were stolen around 1.30 am. "An FIR under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Mohanlalganj police station. Considering the seriousness of the theft, two special police teams were constituted," added the ADCP South. Police scanned footage from over 100 CCTV cameras and carried out intensive technical surveillance. Within hours, the suspect was identified. On December 23, police laid a blockade on the Ganiyar-Mohanlalganj road and arrested Shailendra Kumar (26), a resident of Pyarepur village in Raebareli district. "During interrogation, the accused revealed that the theft was planned with the help of his associate Raj, who worked as a driver with the transport firm, who provided inside information about the vehicles' location and security arrangements," the ADCP said. The accused attempted to flee with the stolen truck and parts to sell them. "However, their plan failed when the DCM ran out of diesel mid-route. While Raj went to arrange fuel, Mohanlalganj police reached the spot and nabbed Shailendra on the spot. His absconding accomplice is currently being searched for," a note added. . HTC...
