Trident-shaped floodlights installed at Vns Int'l Stadium
Varanasi, Dec. 9 -- A trident-shaped floodlight mounted on a 65-metre-tall pole has been installed at the main ground of the International Cricket Stadium in Ganjari, Varanasi. Another 60-metre pole has been installed at the practice ground.
The stadium's thematic architecture draws inspiration from Lord Shiva, featuring crescent-shaped roof covers, trident-shaped lights, ghat-style stepped seating, and bilva-patra-shaped metallic sheets on the facade. The stadium will accommodate 30,000 spectators.
A senior official said that 90% of the work on the pavilion, VVIP lobby, and other areas, including the practice ground, has been completed. Four 60-metre-tall poles fitted with mega lights have been installed at the practice ground, while the 60-metre floodlight pole at the main ground is also nearing readiness.
Divisional commissioner S Rajalingam recently inspected the site and instructed the construction company to ensure timely completion.
Structural steel covering for the audience gallery is currently being installed. Finishing touches are being given to the VVIP lounge and the players' pavilion. Over 80% of the audience lobby work is also complete, an engineer said.
"It will take more than two months to complete the entire project," the engineer added, noting that construction is progressing at a rapid pace.
The international cricket stadium, with a seating capacity of 30,000, is being built on 30.66 acres in Ganjari at a cost of Rs.451 crore....
