Tributes paid to ex-DGP
Lucknow, July 30 -- The police fraternity held a condolence meeting on Tuesday at the Police Headquarters in Lucknow to pay tribute to the late KL Gupta, former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh. A 1965-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Gupta passed away on July 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, leadership and service.
DGP Rajeev Krishna, along with other senior police officials, paid homage and shared their memories of working with Gupta. Recalling his career, DGP Krishna noted that KL Gupta was appointed as the DGP of Uttar Pradesh on April 2, 1998, and served until December 23, 1999. He later retired on October 31, 2001, after holding several key positions throughout his distinguished career. During his tenure as UP DGP, Gupta played a pivotal role in the formation of the Special Task Force (STF) in May 1998-a critical move that led to the elimination of notorious gangster Prakash Shukla.HTC...
