Tribute to three brave cops to mark Police Commemoration Day
LUCKNOW, Oct. 20 -- The Uttar Pradesh Police will remember three brave police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025, on "Police Commemoration Day" to be observed on October 21, said a press note shared by the state police headquarters here on Sunday.
They are inspector Sunil Kumar of UP Special Task Force (STF), who sacrificed his life during an encounter with criminals in Shamli on January 22, head constable Durgesh Kumar Singh who died while performing his duties in Jaunpur on May 17 and constable Saurabh Kumar who laid down his life during a police operation in Gautam Buddh Nagar on May 25.
The press note stated that the families of the three brave police personnel will be honoured and awarded for their sacrifices. The Uttar Pradesh government has expressed its gratitude to the policemen who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
A senior police official said the police commemoration day is an opportunity to pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of justice and peace. He said, "We also remember the sacrifices of their families and the challenges faced by police personnel in their line of duty."
The Uttar Pradesh government will observe "Police Commemoration Day" with great solemnity, led by CM Yogi Adityanath who will pay homage to the brave police personnel at the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow....
