Tribal rampwalk steals the show
LUCKNOW, Nov. 17 -- Celebrations of Birsa Munda's 150th birth anniversary peaked on Sunday as the fourth day of the Janajati Bhagidari Utsav unfolded at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. The standout attraction was the grand tribal fashion showcase Paridhan Pravah, a vibrant presentation of traditional attire, jewellery, rhythms and colours from India's diverse tribal communities.
Directed by Tara Chaudhary of the Tharu tribe, the show blended heritage with contemporary stagecraft, captivating the audience throughout.
The ramp sequence opened with performers from Jammu, followed by artists from Goa, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Rajasthan. Each group walked the runway in its signature traditional attire, presenting short cultural performances accompanied by indigenous instruments.
A specially curated soundtrack, fusing tribal beats with modern tones, heightened the energy of the evening.
Food stalls offering Awadhi cuisine, Rajasthan's dal-baati-choorma, sweet potato chaat and other regional delicacies drew large Sunday crowds, transforming the venue into a bustling cultural hotspot for families and youth....
