Train services resume at Gkp stn after 3-week disruption
GORAKHPUR, May 5 -- Following a prolonged disruption from April 12 to May 3, train services at Gorakhpur Railway Station have now gradually resumed. The interruption was caused by a mega block implemented for track doubling, electrification, and interlocking work between Gorakhpur Junction and Gorakhpur Cantonment.
According to railway officials, train services began returning to normal on Sunday, with around two dozen trains resuming operations. From Monday, at least 122 previously disrupted trains-including several long-distance services-will be gradually restored in phases.
The North Eastern Railway (NER) has completed the third-line work and electrification on the Gorakhpur Junction-Cantt section. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has approved operations on the newly electrified section, where trains can now run at speeds of up to 65 km/h.
Pankaj Kumar Singh, chief public relations officer of NER stated that the completion of this project would significantly improve passenger convenience and operational efficiency.
Furthermore, Gorakhpur Cantt is set to emerge as a more capable satellite station, enabling the introduction of additional train services in the future....
