LUCKNOW, Dec. 23 -- Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to inaugurate the Rashtra Prerna Sthal at Vasant Kunj Yojana on December 25, Lucknow Police have rolled out a massive traffic diversion plan to ensure smooth movement during the VVIP event. The restrictions will come into force from 12 am on December 25 and remain effective till the programme concludes. The event may have a cascading effect as traffic as it is will remain busy due to Christmas celebrations across the city. According to police officials, several internal and external diversions have been put in place, primarily restricting the movement of heavy, commercial and general traffic on routes leading towards the event venue. Traffic heading from Malihabad Chauraha and Munjasa Tiraha towards Baznagar Kisan Path and Chandoiya will be diverted via Zero Point Mohan Road. Similarly, vehicles from Kasmandi underpass, Talkatora side, Dubagga, Bhitauli Tiraha and Kudiya Ghat will be rerouted through alternative corridors such as Kisan Path, Budheshwar, Engineering College Chauraha and Bakshi Ka Talab. Talkatora, Chandoiya bypass, Dubagga and Bhitauli areas will remain under tight traffic regulation, with police deploying additional personnel to manage diversions and prevent congestion. No vehicle movement will be allowed from Dubagga Tiraha towards Chandoiya or Sitapur bypass during the restriction period. In addition, extensive outer diversions have been planned for heavy vehicles entering Lucknow from neighbouring districts. Trucks and buses coming from Kanpur, Unnao, Sitapur, Hardoi, Sultanpur Road, Rae Bareli Road and Barabanki Road towards eastern Uttar Pradesh districts such as Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Basti, Ballia and Azamgarh will be redirected through longer routes including Purvanchal Expressway, Haidergarh, Bachhrawan, Lalganj and Chahalari Ghat to avoid the city altogether. Police officials have appealed to commuters to plan their travel in advance, follow diversion signage, and cooperate with traffic personnel.
