Traffic curbs, diversions in city announced for Mahashivratri
LUCKNOW, Feb. 14 -- The city police have announced a traffic diversion plan in view of Mahashivratri on February 15, anticipating a heavy rush of devotees at prominent Shiva temples across Lucknow. According to officials, the restrictions will come into effect from midnight of February 14 and remain in force as per requirement on the festival day.
Under the plan, vehicles from Daliganj Ikka Tonga Stand crossing will not be allowed towards Mankameshwar temple via Bandha Road and Hanuman Setu. Instead, traffic will be diverted through IT Crossing or Daliganj Bridge. Similarly, no vehicle will be permitted from Mankameshwar Dhaal Tiraha and Nadwa Bandha Tiraha towards the temple stretch.
On the western side of the city, all vehicles heading towards Buddheshwar temple from Buddheshwar crossing and Pal Chauraha will be restricted. Commuters will be routed via the Buddheshwar overbridge. Vehicles coming from Agra Expressway towards Sitapur Road will be diverted from Mohan Road via Tikonia Tiraha and over the overbridge.
Traffic from Dubagga, Barabirwa and Manaknagar towards Sitapur Road will also be channelled through the overbridge to ease congestion near temple premises.
In the Old City, vehicles from Balaganj will not be allowed towards Koneshwar Temple, Ghantaghar, Chowk and Charak Crossing. Diversions have been planned through Harinagar, Bandha Green Corridor and Kudiyaghat. Similarly, vehicles from charak crossing towards Chowk and Balaganj will be rerouted via Rumi Darwaza and the Green Corridor.
