Track money trails to dismantleorganised crime networks: DGP
LUCKNOW, Dec. 10 -- Uttar Pradesh director general of police Rajeev Krishna on Tuesday said that financial transaction trails of accused in cow smuggling, cybercrime and other organised crimes must be closely examined during investigations to dismantle entire networks.
He also laid stress on raising the "cost of committing cybercrime" through rapid International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number blocking, deactivation of fraudulent mobile numbers and other technical interventions.
Chairing a high-level staff meeting at the police headquarters, the DGP reviewed key policing domains, including IGRS/public grievances, cybercrime, Zero Fatality District (ZFD) initiative and Mission Shakti Centres.
The discussions were based on the recommendations of the recently concluded DGP/IGP conference in Raipur, with a focus on implementing the strategic vision outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.
The DGP noted significant improvement in grievance redressal over the past six months.
Krishna also directed strong action against those involved in the codeine-based cough syrup racket. Senior police officers from all zones, ranges and districts participated in the meeting through video conferencing....
