Tourist footfall up in tiger reserves: Govt
LUCKNOW, May 6 -- Tourist footfall has gone up at Dudhwa and Pilibhit Tiger Reserves, a statement issued by the state government on Monday read.
Between November 2024 and April 2025, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) recorded 44,070 Indian and 574 foreign tourists, while the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve welcomed 35,395 Indian and 342 foreign tourists, the statement read.
The ongoing tourism season began in November and will continue through June. "By the end of April, approximately 45,000 tourists had visited Dudhwa, while around 36,000 had explored Pilibhit. Tourist numbers are also steadily rising in Amangarh and Ranipur tiger reserves," said Anuradha Vemuri, principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife), UP.
As per Ranga Raju, deputy director, DTR, the 2023-24 season saw 50,961 Indian and 234 foreign tourists between November and June. In the current season (2024-25), 44,644 tourists-comprising 44,070 Indian and 574 foreign visitors-have already visited Dudhwa in just six months. This year, 90 nature guides were deployed in Dudhwa and 75 in Pilibhit. Additionally, 30 hospitality workers have been trained in housekeeping and culinary through the Indian Institute of Hotel Management to serve tourists better, the statement read.
