Top seeded Mansi Singh to take on Surya Charishma in singles final
LUCKNOW, Sept. 19 -- Top-seeded Mansi Singh of Uttar Pradesh stormed into the women's singles final of the All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament, defeating sixth-seeded Shreya Lele of Gujarat 21-11, 8-21, 21-16 here on Thursday. Mansi will now face fifth-seeded Surya Charishma of Andhra Pradesh, who defeated third seed Isharani Barua of Assam 21-10, 19-21, 21-19. In the men's singles semifinals, Sameer Verma withdrew from his semifinal match against 10th-seeded Bharat Raghav of Haryana due to fatigue 12-21, 22-20, 13-8, whereas 12th seed Maisnam Meiraba of Manipur defeated top seed Ginpaul S of Delhi 21-12, 21-15.
Lucknow Falcons Club defeated Lucknow Falcons Reserves Club 5-0 in the first match of the final leg of the District Football League, at the Ekana Football Stadium here on Thursday. Shivnath scored hat-tricks for Lucknow Falcons (53rd, 56th, and 64th minutes), whereas Yehennaiz and Jaberson shared two goals between them. In the second match, Techtro Lucknow Club defeated Uttar Pradesh Police 2-0. Utkarsh Himanshu Thapa scored.
Sunita Verma, a trainee at the KD Singh 'Babu' Stadium here on Thursday won a gold medal in the UP State School Weightlifting Championship in 58kg weight category. She lifted a total weight of 132 kg. Her colleague Shivani Kashyap got silver with a lift of 70 kg in the 69kg weight category. Both are being trained by Arvind Kushwaha....
