Toll rates up on key routes
LUCKNOW, April 3 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has announced a revision in toll tax rates at several toll plazas falling under the Lucknow division. This increase ranges from Rs.5 to Rs.85.
The new rates have come into effect from April 1, as per a notification issued by the regional manager's office on Thursday.
However, the rates annual pass remain unchanged, say officials aware of the matter. According to the notification, toll charges for both single axle and multi-axle vehicles have been increased across key routes connecting cities like Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Kanpur, Sitapur and Prayagraj.
At Ahmadpur toll plaza on the Ayodhya-Gorakhpur route, the toll for single axle vehicles has been revised to Rs.385, while for multi-axle vehicles it is now Rs.420. Similarly, at Nawabganj toll plaza on the Lucknow-Kanpur route, the revised rates stand at Rs.330 and Rs.360 respectively.
Single axle vehicles are normal vehicles with one axle at the front and one at the back like cars, jeeps, vans and small buses. Multi-axle vehicles are heavy vehicles with more than two axles (3 or more) like trucks, trailers, large commercial vehicles.
The notification includes nine toll plazas where the revised rates are applicable. Officials said the revision has been carried out in line with updated toll policies and operational requirements.
