LUCKNOW, May 23 -- A one-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her middle-aged neighbour in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area of Lucknow. The incident occurred on Thursday evening when the child was playing outside her house, police said."The accused had been taken under police custody for questioning while the victim was sent for medical examination and based on the family's complaint an FIR under relevant section has been registered in BKT police station," said JK Dubey, additional deputy commissioner of police, North.BKT police station in-charge Sanjay Kumar Singh stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken after the medical report is received. Police said that the accused has a catering business in the area.According to the victim's family, the accused neighbour took the girl to his house. Hearing her screams, her father rushed to the spot and found her bleeding and in pain. The family alleged that when confronted, the accused threatened to kill them and used casteist slurs.
