Tilodki Ganga river begins rejuvenation under govt's revival plan
Ayodhya, June 19 -- Once the lifeline of rural Ayodhya, the Tilodki Ganga river which had gradually vanished from the landscape due to years of encroachment and rapid urban development, especially following the construction of large buildings along its banks, is set to be revived with the efforts of authorities. Now, with the support of the Uttar Pradesh government and the Ayodhya district administration, efforts are underway to rejuvenate the river and restore it to its original form.Ayodhya district magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde stated that work has commenced on a seven-kilometre stretch in the first phase of the revival project.
The total length of the Tilodki Ganga is 46 kilometres.Much of the river's main stretch lies alongside the Ayodhya-Prayagraj National Highway, an area now dotted with industrial and commercial establishments. This initiative follows chief minister Yogi Adityanath's directive to revive one river in every district.
The restoration is being carried out under the MGNREGA scheme, specifically between Gaura Brahmanan and Panditpur in the Sohawal area.
