LUCKNOW, July 25 -- As many as 80 forest personnel, two elephants, thermal drone cameras, tranquiliser guns, nets and cages were deployed on Thursday in a large-scale operation to capture a tigress that had reportedly killed three people in Pilibhit district. The animal was finally tranquilised and rescued after nearly 10 hours of efforts in Dandia village under the Newaria police station area. "She is being shifted to a safe location," Lalit Verma, additional principal chief conservator of forest, said, who led the ground operation. The forest department had launched the search after three human deaths, including that of a woman, were reported on June 9, July 15 and July 17, allegedly due to attacks by the tigress. The big cat was spotted on Thursday morning using a thermal drone, and teams quickly moved in to surround and capture it. A total of 80 forest staff had been working in shifts, monitoring the tigress round the clock with specialised equipment, officials said. "Her health will be monitored, and based on her history, a decision will be taken to either release her back into the wild or shift her to a zoo," Anuradha Vemuri, principal chief conservator of forest (Wildlife), Uttar Pradesh, said....
