Tight security deployed at Magh Mela for upcoming bathing days
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 12 -- Robust security arrangements have been made in the Magh Mela area in view of upcoming bathing days.

To ensure the safety of devotees, intensive deployment of mela police, PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) and RAF (Rapid Action Force) personnel has been made at all entry points from Sangam Nose to the entire mela area. Entry into the mela area is granted only after thorough checking and verification of suspected individuals at the entry points.
As part of the measures, an eight-tier security cordon has been established. The outer security perimeters are manned by the police force, while the inner perimeters have PAC, RAF and ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) personnel deployed at different strategic points. Mounted police have also been deployed at Sangam Nose while PAC personnel are present at both ends of all pontoon bridges to maintain effective control over movement.
The bomb disposal squad is continuously conducting intensive checks and searches at various sensitive locations in the mela area. Police, PAC and ATS commandos are keeping a close watch on suspicious activities at major locations, including Sangam Nose. The entire Magh Mela area is being continuously monitored through CCTV cameras and a control room.
Considering the large crowds of devotees at all the bathing ghats, including Sangam, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), flood relief teams and water police personnel have been deployed. The personnel are continuously making announcements to prevent devotees from venturing into deep water, thereby preventing any untoward incidents....
