Varanasi, July 2 -- In view of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra during the month of Shravan, 10 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will be deployed round the clock, and surveillance will be carried out using 200 CCTV cameras and eight drones to ensure the safety and convenience of Kanwariyas, said commissioner of Police Mohit Agarwal. Shravan begins on July 11. The commissioner, along with a team of senior police officers, inspected the Kanwar Yatra route and instructed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place ahead of the pilgrimage. He stated that 20 motorcycle squads will be on continuous patrol, and around 1,500 police personnel will be deployed around the clock. Additionally, 10 temporary police outposts will be set up along the route. Private camp operators have also been directed to install CCTV cameras at their sites, and volunteers will be responsible for monitoring them. Police station in-charges have been instructed to hold meetings with DJ operators and inform them to maintain volume and height levels as per the prescribed standards. A dedicated lane will be reserved for Kanwariyas on the road from Gudiya Border to Mohansarai, and a separate lane will be allocated for entry into the city from Mohansarai. Shopkeepers along the route have been asked to display name boards and clear lists of food prices. The Commissioner also inspected camp sites, diversion points, parking areas, medical camps, and locations identified for temporary police posts. To ensure the convenience of Kanwariyas, camps will be equipped with basic facilities such as snacks, drinking water, and first aid, with police stationed permanently at these sites. Accommodation arrangements will be made for police personnel assigned to security duty along the Kanwar route. Police will remain on high alert 24 hours a day. Normal traffic will be restricted on the Kanwar route, and a separate lane diversion plan will be implemented. Parking will only be permitted in designated areas. Continuous surveillance will be maintained using drones and IP cameras. Police verification will be mandatory for all camp operators and volunteers, and no camps will be allowed without prior verification. Considering the monsoon season and rising river water levels, barricading will be installed, and the Disaster Response Force will be deployed around the clock. Assistance will also be sought from local divers. Social media will be monitored using AI and other advanced technologies. Strict action will be taken against those spreading misinformation or attempting to incite religious or communal unrest. All police personnel are expected to perform their duties with a spirit of service. Coordination with bordering districts will be essential to strengthen the overall security and traffic management for the Kanwar Yatra. The volume of music systems used during the Yatra must remain within the prescribed limits to avoid causing inconvenience to others. Every effort should be made to...
