Three women killed, over a dozen injured as buses crash head-on
Lakhimpur, Nov. 20 -- Three women were killed while over a dozen others were left injured when a bus carrying passengers from Nepal to Shimla, collided head on with a bus carrying pilgrims from Manauna Dham to Shrawasti, at Ranjitnagar bridge, on National Highway 730, under the Isanagar police limits, on Tuesday night. Isanagar police station in-charge Nirmal Tiwari said a woman, later identified as Asha Devi, 35 of Nepal, died on the spot while another Nepali woman, identified as Deepa, 30, and Jay Varsha, 60, of Shrawasti district, succumbed to their injuries at the district hospital.
He added that seven of the injured-five from Nepal including a 10-year-old boy and two from Shrawasti district, were rushed to Trauma Centre, Lucknow, in view of their serious condition while four were under treatment at the district hospital. After getting news of the accident, locals of Ranjitnagar village and Isanagar police station in-charge and his staff rushed to the spot and carried out rescue work. DSP, Dhaurahra, Shamsher Bahadur Singh and SDM Shashi Kant Mani also rushed to the spot and sent the injured to hospital....
