Haldwani, May 25 -- Three final-year students from Government Medical College, Haldwani, have been suspended for one year months after they were caught cheating during their examinations, officials familiar with the matter said on Saturday. "During the MBBS final year examinations held in February, two students were caught using smartwatches and one was using chits to cheat. On Friday evening, an order was issued stating the suspension of these three students for one year. They have been instructed to reappear in the examination with the junior batch next year. The college is taking strict steps to prevent such incidents and is also providing training to students to raise awareness against unfair practices," Dr RG Nautiyal, exam controller at Government Medical College, Haldwani, said. "The answer sheets and the cheating materials of these three students were immediately confiscated. A report was then sent to Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Medical University for further action," he said. "Following an investigation, the allegations were found to be valid. The university then declared all three students as failed and suspended them from appearing in any exams for one year. They will now be eligible to retake the examination with the junior batch in February 2026. Only upon clearing that exam will their MBBS degree be considered complete," the official added....
