Three seeded players make early exit on Day 1
LUCKNOW, May 13 -- As many as three seeded players in the boy's section faced shocking exits in the first round of the ITF J30, at the Vijayant Khand Stadium here on Monday. Third seeded Daksh Kukreti lost to qualifier Atharva Sriramoju 3-6, 0-6, unseeded player Aarush Bhalla defeated fifth seeded Om Hiren Thakkar in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 and Veer Madam easily defeated seventh seeded Pratyush Loganathan 6-2, 6-1.
In other matches in the category, sixth seeded Vyom Shah defeated Moksh Reddy 6-1, 6-1. Eight seeded Amit Mund, Sharan Somasi, Harsh Malik, Adwit Tiwari, Praneet Reddy, Yashvin Dahiya have secured their place in the second round by winning their matches.
in the girts section, all the seeded players made it to the second round. Fourth seeded Ahida Singh defeated qualifier Shibani Gupte 6-2, 7-5, fifth seeded Deepshikha Vinayagamoorthy defeated Avika Yadav 6-1, 6-1, sixth seeded Mandagala Princy beat UP's Arundhati Singh Dagur 6-0, 6-0. Other girls' players who reached the second round, included Manvi Mukta and Eshanya Khattar.
Earlier, UP's Mehar Singh Khosla, Aarav Bhaskar, Ashi Shamshery lost their matches. Now UP's hopes rest on Ananya Jain and Rishi Yadav whose matches are yet to be played.
The District Football League under the auspices of the Lucknow Football Association will be played at the Chowk Stadium here in July in memories of Olympian Ravinder Pal Singh and Satwant Singh. LFA's secretary, Kanhaya Lal informed that interested clubs/units must get its registration done by May 25. Teams like Techtro Football Club, Uttar Pradesh Police Guru Govind Singh Sports College, Milani Club, New Boys Club, Footify Academy, Yuva Club, Lucknow Falcon Football Club Ekana, LDA Club etc., are expected to participate.
In the fifth round of the UP Future Grandmaster Chess Series being held at Delhi Public School at Sitapur on Monday, Slav Defence was played on the first board between top seeded International Master Aryan Varshney and Ramanuj Mishra of Kushinagar. In the middle game, Aryan played aggressively and got a strong hold on the game and eventually won in 49 moves and got full points.
On the other board, Scandinavian Defence was played between Shikhar Singh Yadav and RK Gupta, in which both the players kept exchanging pieces continuously....
