Three police teams hunt certificate buyers across states
LUCKNOW, Dec. 23 -- Police have formed three separate teams after recovering more than 925 fake degrees and marksheets from Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, on Saturday, linked to over 25 universities, to identify people who allegedly used forged academic credentials to secure jobs or admissions.
"This case has implications far beyond the arrests made so far. A large number of individuals may be working or studying based on fake degrees," a senior police officer said.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) East Shashank Singh said the three teams are identifying beneficiaries and tracking their current employment or academic status.
Forensic examination of seized documents and electronic devices is underway, and coordination is being carried out with universities and employers across multiple states.
