Three mowed down by truck in Pilibhit, CM Yogi expresses grief
Meerut, Oct. 5 -- Three people, including a car driver, were killed and a woman was critically injured after a speeding truck ran over passengers standing by the road on the Bisalpur-Bareilly highway in Pilibhit district on Saturday morning.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the unfortunate road accident that took place in Pilibhit district.
He directed the district administration officials to ensure that the injured were provided with proper treatment, while also wishing them a speedy recovery."
The accident occurred around 5 am near Mandara Suman Mor. According to Bisalpur Kotwali police, a group of eight people, originally from different parts of Nepal, were travelling from Delhi to Kathmandu in a car. When the vehicle got punctured, four passengers stepped out and stood by the side of the road while the remaining occupants stayed inside the car.
Moments later, a truck passing through the stretch mowed down those standing outside. Three people died instantly, while a woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the district hospital, where her condition remains critical.
Bisalpur police station house officer Sanjeev Kumar Shukla said, the deceased have been identified as Ganesh Kumar (47), the car driver and resident of Indira Park in West Delhi; Nikhil (20); and another unidentified individual.
The injured woman has been identified as Anjali. SHO confirmed that while Ganesh Kumar was from Delhi, the two other deceased were residents of Nepal.
After the collision, the truck driver fled the scene with his vehicle. Police have launched a search to trace the vehicle and apprehend the driver....
