Three killed, 8 hurt in Kushinagar crash
GORAKHPUR, Dec. 4 -- An out-of-control dumper crashed into multiple vehicles, resulting in three deaths and injuries to eight other people, on the Kasya Highway in Kushinagar on Monday. The incident occurred around 1.30 pm at the Pakwainar crossing.
The driver of the dumper, Raj Singh, 40, was also among the injured.
Those killed were identified as Ramvilas alias Sadhu, 60, a resident of Pipri Chaube Tola in Kasya, who was riding the bicycle; and two motorcycle riders, Keshav Rajbhar, 24 and Chandan Rajbhar, 22, both residents of Sahodar Patti under Mahuawa police station in Deoria district, police said. The critically injured victims were referred to the district hospital.
According to police, the high-speed dumper lost control near Pakwa Enar Chauraha. In an attempt to avoid hitting an elderly pedestrian crossing the four-lane road, the driver first struck a cyclist. The vehicle then crossed the divider, entered the oncoming lane, and collided head-on with an e-rickshaw, a motorcycle, a truck, and a tractor-trolley before overturning.
Three teenagers returning home after attending a bhandara in Jalaun were killed late on Tuesday night when their motorcycle rammed into an electricity pole on a kutcha stretch near Gadhaila village. None of them was wearing a helmet, police said.
According to officers from Jalaun Kotwali, the victims - Anshuman Parihar,17, Ankit Sakwar, 14, and Krishan Kumar, 14, all residents of Hathna Bujurg - had ridden to Gadhaila for a community feast held during the annual 11-kundi yajna and Bhagwat event. The crash occurred around 11 pm while they were returning to their village.
Police said the motorcycle went out of control on the uneven, potholed kutcha road and swerved straight into an electricity pole....
